Welcome to our Spring 2021 newsletter.

Spring has sprung and with lockdown restrictions set to ease in the coming weeks and vaccines being rolled out, things are starting to look more hopeful. We are excited to get back to working in the office more regularly and being able to safely meet our clients face-to-face.

Our team has been busy growing our fibre routes to Telehouse North and Sovereign House in Docklands and upgrading our routers to increase core capacity across our global network. For the past 15 years, we’ve been passionate about ensuring our customers get the best possible service and these types of updates are necessary in achieving this.

Last month, we launched our ‘Meet the Team’ interview series so you can get to know our team a bit better. So far, we have interviewed Luke Germano, our Service Desk Supervisor who has progressed in his career on the apprenticeship pathway, and our newest employee, Charlie Harris, Senior Business Development Manager. We’ve also recently launched our Instagram page (@Vinters_IT) and have been running an Easter competition on there. You have until 1 April to be in with a chance of winning a chocolate hamper and £100 Amazon voucher.

We explained in our last newsletter how we not only supported clients in working from home, but also adapted to a new way of working internally too. A year on since the first lockdown restrictions were announced, most of our staff have continued to work remotely, with just two engineers in the office each week on a rotational basis.

With the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination programme and the UK government’s schedule for the easing of lockdown, we’ve been preparing to get back to the office as soon as it’s safe to do so. We’ve missed collaborating with colleagues and more importantly meeting with our clients face-to-face and continuing our site visits. We also look forward to attending some of the big industry events like Microsoft Ignite, Oracle OpenWorld, F5 Agility and Redhat Summit in person again soon.

Having recently celebrated 15 years in business, we truly believe our team is behind making Vinters what it is today. We have launched our ‘Meet the Team’ interview series over on our blog, which gives you the opportunity to get to know the faces behind our business. With more people working remotely, this is more important than ever!

As part of National Apprenticeship Week (8-14 February), we interviewed Luke Germano about how he joined the team as an apprentice in 2015 and has progressed into his current role as Service Desk Supervisor, as well as outlining why he believes apprenticeships are a valuable career path.

Our newest member of staff and Senior Business Development Manager, Charlie Harris, was our March interviewee. She shared how she’s adapted to the IT industry, what a typical day in her role looks like and her goals for 2021.

Since joining Vinters in November 2020, Charlie has progressed quickly and has brought her experience of account management in the travel industry into the position. She has already made great relationships with our clients and gained a certification as a Veeam Sales Professional.

We are excited to now have diverse fibre routes being installed from our Maidstone HQ Data Centre to Telehouse North and Sovereign House in Docklands, East London. This allows us to significantly increase our network capacity, transit options and add more internet exchanges. It also enables us to connect to hyper-scale public providers through the likes of Azure Express Route and AWS Direct Connect.

Throughout February, we also completed router upgrades to increase our core capacity in Maidstone, and these will also be rolling out to our other facilities throughout the rest of the year.

With Easter weekend fast approaching, we are running a competition over on our social media channels. One lucky individual will receive an Easter Chocolate Hamper and a £100 Amazon voucher.
